Calling all potential Board of Directors Members!!!!

Board of Directors
Have you ever wondered what a member of the board of directors at a non-profit does? So did I! I'm going to take a little time to explain the purpose of the board of directors and how it would work with Knit Around the World. I'm hoping that this will peak some interested about people who are interested in knitting, Africa, and international aid to volunteer to be on the board. Of course, you don't have to be interested in those things to be on the board, but it would help because as a director you'd help shape the direction of the non-profit.
Directors are important because they can be legally, financially and morally responsible for the company. As a director you would help fundraise for Knit Around the World and help spread the word and help build connections preferably to help spread internationally. I'd really love to have someone with financial experience and can help guide the money management as well as grant writing possibilities. I also have the positions of Tresurer and Secretary available if anyone is interested. There would be monthly board meetings with the minutes recorded to dicuss any concerns and the direction of Knit Around the World. These board meeting can be held through a conference call or most likely Skype if we can't all get together as the same time. I really want people commited to help this organization grow and not just using this position to pad their resume. Currently there is no monitary compensation for this position and that will most likely not change. There is also no time limit to serve as director.
Please let me know if you are interested in being a board director by sending me a short email with a short paragraph about why you want this position and what you'd be able to bring to Knit Around the World. I will let you know if you are selected, most likely will happen, and will need your name and address to be listed on the articles for Knit Around the World that will be submitted to the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Other KATW news!
I have submitted a request to reserve Knit Around the World as the name of my non-profit and when I get the Board of Directors finalized I will submitt the article of incorporation then on to submitting information to the IRS and setting up the organization!!!!!

...And a joke!

Three pregnant women are sitting chatting and knitting jumpers for their expected kids.
The first one says "I hope that I have a baby boy, because I'm knitting a blue jumper.
"The second says " Well I hope that I have a girl because I'm knitting a pink jumper"
The third woman says "I hope my kid is spastic, because I've F@*%# up the arms"

Until next time...same knit time....same knit channel!

Non-profit updates and a Joke!

First off...
Please, please, please take the time to vote on the side of my blog for the name of my non-profit that I'm trying really hard to start. it would mean the world to me.  Okay that was me on my soap box.

Starting a Non-Profit... Most likely the scariest thing I've ever done.
So I'm reading this book about how to start a non-profit and I need a board of directors and to fill out a lot of forms (which for me isn't bad at all) but the whole concept is incredibly scary. I feel a little dumb but I kinda want to talk to a lawyer and ask whether I need to have employees if I'm volunteering to go over or have the non-profit pay the cost for me to travel and teach knitting. Silly, I know, but it's one of these dumb questions that I feel compelled to ask. If anyone knows these answers please, let me know.

On to the joke...
A cop car chased a speeding car and when he caught up with it he saw a women inside knitting.  He began to yell to her "Pull Over! Pull Over!."  The woman yelled back to him "No!  It is a cardigan!"
